Practicing dentistry for more than 25 years, Dr. Robert Axelrad has owned and managed his own practice since 1997. He moved his practice to its current, state-of-the-art dental office in Brampton in 2002 to accommodate his growing list of happy patients.Dr. Axelrad did his education at the University of McGill in Montreal and is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). Over his career, he has gained the experience to specialize in virtually every major facet of dentistry, including:

  • Endodontics (root canals)Occlusion (the interaction between the upper and lower teeth)
  • Oral Surgery (teeth extraction)
  • Periodtontics (the gums)
  • Prostodontics (crowns, bridges, implants, veneers and dentures)
  • TMJ (disorders of the joint where the jaw meets the skull)

Known for being caring, thorough and gentle in his dental practice, Dr. Axelrad meets with new patients for 50 to 60 minutes, making sure they’re properly diagnosed and that treatment is properly planned.Dr. Axelrad continuously tries to make the dental experience better for every patient. He attends countless seminars and courses to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in dental techniques and technology. A respected member of his community, he’s affiliated with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.It probably doesn’t surprise you that a dentist known for his gentle, pain-free practice is a family man with lots of hobbies. Dr. Axelrad has a wife and two daughters. He enjoys singing, reading, watching movies, exercising and spending time with his family. After doing much of his education in Montreal, Dr. Axelrad has a firm grasp on the French language to accompany his English. Working as an associate at Dr. Axelrad Family Dentistry, Dr. Shum has practiced dentistry for more than three years. She’s a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) and completed her education at the University of Toronto, where she also earned a certificate of completion in Nitrous Oxide and Oral Sedation. Like Dr. Axelrad, Dr. Shum maintains the highest possible standard of dentistry in Brampton through continuing education courses. Her affiliations include the Ontario Dental Association, Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Canadian Dental Society and Health Mission Outreach. Dr. Shum is always on the go; she loves to travel, listen to music, go to the movies and spend time with her family and friends. She speaks English but also understands most Cantonese. A big reason why every dentist at Dr. Axelrad Family Dentistry has so much expertise and can practice such gentle, pain-free dentistry: experience. And Dr. Rick Horenfeldt has it in spades. Dr. Horenfeldt has practiced dentistry since earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree 30 years ago. He is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Toronto Implant and Esthetics Study Club and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. Outside the dentist office, Dr. Horenfeldt lives a very active lifestyle and spends lots of time with his family. He enjoys boating and golfing in the summer, skiing in the winter, and all sorts of travelling. Dr. Horenfeldt speaks English. Dr. Javadi is one of the Greater Toronto Area’s (GTA) brightest young dentists. She graduated from the University of Toronto as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). She is committed to expanding her knowledge and staying on top of the latest, most state-of-the art trends in dentistry via continuing education. Dr. Javadi recently received a certificate of completion from the University of Toronto for a course in Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Conscious Sedation. Dr Javadi is a peaceful, gentle soul who loves spending time with her family and taking long walks. She speaks English and Persian. Evelyne is a jack of all trades at the dental office. She has over 15 years of experience in the corporate world, a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from New York University (NYU) and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from McGill University. She has also worked in banking for more than 10 years. Evelyne’s business experience is a big addition to the daily operations of Dr. Axelrad’s team. When not working, she enjoys yoga, dancing and taking care of her family. Evelyne speaks both English and French. Sasha works full-time as a dental receptionist at Dr. Axelrad’s dental office in Brampton. With six years of experience to her name, she’s known for providing charming, attentive customer service. Sasha graduated from the Dental Assisting and Reception program at CDI College. She is certified in both CPR and HARP (X-ray safety). Outside the office, Sasha loves spending time with her husband and dog. An active person, she enjoys snowboarding, camping, rock climbing and rollerblading. Sasha speaks both English and Italian. A graduate of the Canadian College of Dental Health, Noreen has been a dental hygienist for five years. She is certified in CPR and HARP (x-ray safety) and affiliated with the College of Dental Hygienists and Ontario Dental Hygiene Association. She is also trained in Soft Tissue Management Therapy – and has lots of good advice for patients on how to take care of their mouths. Noreen loves the outdoors and to “trek.” She also loves entertaining others and cooking. She speaks four languages: Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English. Derlyn is the “veteran” dental hygienist at Dr. Axelrad’s dentist office. She has 13 years worth of experience as a dental assistant and graduated from the A-Plus Institute of Dental Hygiene in 2005. Derlyn is affiliated with the College of Dental Hygienists and the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association. Her dental experience is very eclectic; Derlyn is trained in digital x-rays, CPR, HARP (x-ray safety), Invisalign, sterilization, and Sapphire/Zoom Whitening – just to name a few areas! Away from the Brampton dental office, Derlyn loves to cook, whether she’s at home, camping or traveling. She’s a colourful personality who enjoys singing and dancing and likes to get her competitive fire going at the bowling alley or on the badminton court. Along with English, Derlyn speaks Tagalog and Visaya. Versa is entering her fourth year as a dental hygienist and has a unique perspective to offer her patients. In addition to her dental education, she has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and has experience in healthcare, childhood education and dental sales. Versa uses her diverse skill set to educate patients about oral health and preventative dentistry. Versa’s affiliations include the College of Dental Hygienists and the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association. She is certified in CPR and HARP (x-ray safety). An adventurous spirit, Versa loves to travel. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She speaks English, Hindi and Gujarati. Suzy is an experienced dental hygienist who takes great care of every patient. She has been a dental hygienist for six years now, having graduated from the Regency Dental Hygiene Academy. Several years before that, she graduated from Georgian College’s Dental Assisting program. Like all the team members at Dr. Axelrad Family Dentistry, Suzy has proper certification in every relevant area. She’s certified in CPR and HARP (x-ray safety). Suzy would describe herself as a lover of the outdoors when she isn’t working as a dental hygienist. She loves to camp, hike, travel and play soccer. Suzy speaks English and Portuguese. Rhona brings a unique combination of experience and nurture to Dr. Axelrad’s dental office. She has worked for 10 years as a dental assistant, having graduated from CDI. However, she also previously worked as a hairstylist and a caregiver for children. As a result, Rhona takes special pride in taking care of people as she helps them with their dental needs. She represents the blueprint of what every staffer brings to Dr. Axelrad’s office in that she helps make the environment positive and fun. Rhona’s affiliations include the Ontario Dental Assistant Association. She is also certified in CPR and HARP (x-ray safety). Outside the dental office, Rhona enjoys the warm weather. She loves to golf and play water sports. She speaks English. Inna has a special understanding of how to provide patients with the utmost care and understanding. Before her seven years of experience as a dental assistant and graduating from George Brown College, Inna was a medical nurse in Ukraine. Her vast experience dealing with patients of all sorts makes her the ideal dental assistant for Dr. Axelrad’s office. Inna’s affiliations include the Ontario Dental Assistant Association. She is also certified in CPR and HARP (x-ray safety). Inna has fun both indoors and outdoors when she isn’t on the job. She likes to read and draw and has a passion for interior decorating new balance 580. Inna also loves to garden and enjoy the beauty of nature. She speaks English and Ukrainian.
